She is trained in various trauma techniques, but is especially engaged with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. She also has training in dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, polyvagal theory, and pain reprocessing therapy. She has facilitated Caduceus and Seeking Safety group therapy sessions as well as Mindfulness Based Chronic Pain Management groups.
She is a medical graduate of the University of Toronto Medicine Program (2008) and completed both her Doctoral thesis in Molecular Genetics as well as her family medicine residency there. She has a Masters degree in the area of Palliative Care from the University of Maryland and a CCFP certificate in Addiction Medicine.
She is an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and an Associate Member in Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan.
She is certified in Integrated Structural Acupuncture from the College of Osteopathy University of New England. She is a certified yoga instructor through Yoga Therapy Studio.
Dr Holowaty is originally from Saskatchewan but left for Ontario to attend University in 1998. She is pleased to be back since 2024.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteer work, jiu-jitsu and her geriatric boston terrier.
Current Practice
She currently provides psychotherapy in her private office and also works at the University of Saskatchewan Chronic Pain Clinic.
